A few things about yesterday

Yesterday was a good day generally England won 4-0 against Greece in the first game under Steve Mclaren(no Beckham present), Andy Murray beat almost invincble World No.1 Roger Federer at the Cincinnati Masters and I saw a Hybrid Car running on LPG and Petrol which was quite interesting and hopefully such vehicles will become more popular in the future for the environments sake.

Anyway so back to the sport... Murray's achievement is pretty amazing as only 1 other person has beaten him this year and that was Nadal and only in Finals, if Murray can do well again this week and get to the Masters Semis or Final or even Win now he will probably get up towards the top 10 from his present 21!

Despite the England Match being a friendly they also put in a great performance with Peter Crouch continueing a brilliant scoring record of 8 goals in 12 caps and Hargreaves putting in another man of the match performance. Even Lampard scored despite it being slightly by accident off the defenders foot. New captain Terry scored the first goal with a header after a goal keeping error.

John Terry new England Captain

John Terry has been named England Captain with Gerrard as vice, personally I wanted Gerrard but as long as Terry is still dropped if not on form for Gerrard the decision is fine for me, I do feel if we are losing in a game Gerrard would be more influential as proved in the Champions League and FA Cup Final.

Maybe it would have been best to try both or have Gary Neville in the short term. In the poll of the England Supporters club Terry had 51% with Gerrard on 46, with lampard and neville getting a few percent and Beckham... 1 Vote!

Good Luck to Terry, hopefully we will beat Greece and start qualifying well... then win Euro 2008... that would be good(might as well be hopeful again)!

At Last!!!

Jenson Button after 113 attempts has at last won a grand prix! What a race it was too, anyone in the field could have won it if they played their cards right but Jenson despite starting from 14th with a 10 place engine penalty did it in the first ever wet Hungarian Grand Prix!!

Well Done Jenson

Come on Andy Murray later in the Final of the Legg Mason Classic!

A World Cup Over.. and a couple of CD's

Well better late than never but as many of you already know, England crashed out the World Cup in the quarter finals on penaltys after Wayne Rooney was stupidly sent off. Anyway, that's over for another 2 years and there is not more Davd Beckham as captain or Sven as manager but at least overall, there was the odd positive...

In Four Years time if Mclaren prepares us properly we will have the Best team by far still, with Owen Hargreaves looking to be the future player in the centre of England's midfield with Gerrard if Lennon plays on the right, or Lampard if Gerrard Plays there. Well done to Hargreaves for scoring by the way, our defence will all have a chance to be around in 4 years and with Michael Dawson also around there will be lots of compitition for places again. Paul Robinson will still easily be playing for the next 4 tournaments so we will still have a good goalkeeper with lots of good backup like Scott Carson coming through. Upfront is a bit more problematic but Rooney should still be fantastic but Owen will be getting a bit beyond it for his roll.. maybe Walcott will get a chance one day.

Anyway I gained two CD's today Blackholes and Revelations by Muse which didn't sound great on first listening but has grown on me and is probably about level with OOS and Absolution. The other was a Random CD I won Making Dens by Mystery Jets which seems quite good, despite no really being my thing.

Finally good luck to all the teams in the World Cup except Germany(can't ahve them winning again) and Portugal(Scolari beats England too much).
