Stuff Magazine - Hot Stuff
Stuff Magazine - Hot Stuff: "Digital pathogen (n)
In short, a long phrase for a virus. Not flu, which would be an organic pathogen; no, a computer virus, Trojan horse, worm, or some such software maliciously released with the intention of knackering your, and everybody else's, hard drive.
Derivation
'Virus' - from the Latin for 'slimy liquid' - is a bit passe now, so those wanting a portentous phrase have turned to the Greek equivalent: 'pathogen' ('gives birth to suffering'). And added 'digital', obviously.
